Attendees will sit in the orchestra chairs on the main stage of the SPAC amphitheater while renowned guest speakers lead captivating talks from the conductor’s podium on a variety of topics that bridge the worlds of art, science, and nature.

Replenish: The Virtuous Cycle of Water and Prosperity

“Sandra Postel is director of the Global Water Policy Project and author of Replenish: The Virtuous Cycle of Water and Prosperity. From 2009-2015, she served as Freshwater Fellow of the National Geographic Society, where she co-created Change the Course, the water stewardship initiative awarded the 2017 US Water Prize for restoring billions of gallons of water to depleted rivers, aquifers and wetlands. Hailed for her “inspiring, innovative and practical approach,” Sandra works to build a more water-secure world for people and nature. She has authored four books and numerous articles for scholarly and popular publications, including Science, Natural History, and Scientific American. Her article “Troubled Waters” appeared in Best American Science and Nature Writing. Postel’s first book, Last Oasis, served as the basis for a PBS documentary. Her media appearances also include the BBC’s Planet Earth, Leonardo DiCaprio’s The 11th Hour, and the National Geographic Channel’s Breakthrough series. Previously, Sandra served as vice president for research at the Worldwatch Institute. The recipient of four honorary degrees, she has taught courses at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, as well as at Mt. Holyoke College. She has been named a Pew Scholar in Conservation and the Environment and one of the Scientific American 50, an award recognizing contributions to science and technology. She lives in New Mexico.”
